The Compliance Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. The candidate will lead technical resource to the Operations & Maintenance team responsible for implementing & developing the plant EHS and NERC program.

Essential Responsibilities
Manage master schedule of all regulatory requirements & ensure requirements are planned in advance ensuring compliance and tracked using plant software to completion. Complete tasks or oversee completion and communicate status to Plant Management. Ensure day-to-day environmental compliance at the plant, including all applicable environmental monitoring, recordkeeping and reporting requirements, including continuous emissions monitoring system (CEMS) operation, data collection and routine and non-routine reporting to regulatory agencies. Work with the data acquisition and handling system (DAHS) OEM to ensure monitoring software is working properly and coordinate any necessary modifications / upgrades to the CEMS and DAHS. In addition, you will:
  • Maintain plant environmental and safety records in accordance with established records management procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Investigate and follow-up on safety and environmental incidents, including hazardous material spills, air permit violations, water releases and near-misses
  • Prepare and manage annual budget for environmental and safety regulations, ensuring spending is managed within the established budget
  • Train plant personnel on regulations ensuring overall understanding of plant compliance requirements
  • Provide assistance to plant management with interfacing with local environmental agency personnel, including preparing for and coordinating inspections, responding to information requests, supporting permit modifications and renewals
  • Monitor corporate safety and environmental regulatory changes that will affect the plant and provide recommendations as appropriate
  • Perform root cause analysis, develop and submit lessons learned as applicable
  • Conduct assessments of the plant safety, environmental and NERC compliance programs in accordance with company procedures and assessment schedule
  • Draw upon familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in compliance law
