OHIO University is seeking qualified applicants for the Compliance Specialist position.

This position exists to assist the Finance department in meeting the departments oversight and fiduciary responsibilities through the process of reviews/audits to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the internal control environment, and verify compliance with the financial and operational procedures under the established control systems and regulatory requirements.
This position will be responsible for detection of issues and producing recommendations while working with departments to implement improvements and efficiencies.
This position will integrate best practices,regulations, and policies as gauged against risks, costs, efficiency/effectiveness and benefits.
The incumbent must understand institutional risk tolerance and make recommendations that improve/preserve the control environment in a way that makes it operationally possible to implement and obtain desired results.
The incumbent must apply strong independent judgment and decision making in the development of audit plans, programs and scopes with an eye towards balancing cost-benefit.
Recommendations from this position could change operational procedures, the audit process or impact the effort of customers and staff within the Finance area. This would require modifications to the training protocol, or could unintentionally increase the cost or risk to the institution.
This position also assists with student intern supervision which includes monitoring and assigning work activities to students.
-Bachelor’s degree, preferable with a major or concentrated study in accounting, systems, business, or related field
-This position requires technical education in financial and technology concepts, processes and regulations as well as the ability to understand efficiency and cost consequences.
-Additional requirements include professional certification such as CIA , CFE , CPA . Progress towards certification may be accepted, however, certification is expected to be completed within one year of the date of hire.
-Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a large complex organization performing duties related to this position.
