Sources, selects, and qualifies components used in the company’s technology. Investigates alternate component technologies or materials and recommends changes in order to reduce cost and improve quality. Acts as technical interface between component vendors/suppliers and design/development engineers. May propose changes in design or formulation of alternate component technologies to improve system and/or process reliability. Develops guidelines and/or procedures on vendor selection.
IJM processing skills
Some tooling and processing experience that allows them to know or quickly learn how to do tooling and part cost estimating
Very good project management skills
Ability/knowledge to estimate tooling and part cost
A degree in Plastics Engineering would be preferred.
Knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Knowledge/Importance of Part Quality Plans (PQPs)
Understanding of datum’s (Functional location points of a part) pertaining to prints
