With your thorough understanding of Military and NASA components specifications, in particular, screening requirements and reliability levels, prohibited termination/lead finishes, and understanding of lead finish with respect to solder processes and different solders, you will be very successful in the immediate need for our team. Your strong knowledge of EEE-INST-002 level 1 and 2 requirements as well as Military specifications MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-PRF-38535, Mil-PRF-19500, MIL-PRF-55681, MIL-PRF 5534, and MIL-STD-1547 will make you the go-to person. Your familiarity with Mil-Std-883 and Mil-Std-750 will be an asset to us. Also, with your past experience working on NASA and other space flight programs, you will play a key role in the continued success of our programs. In our dynamic team environment you will provide guidance to engineers on multiple programs and provide enterprise-wide contribution to reduce product life cycle costs. Your targets will be improved development efficiency, lower aggregate procurement costs and improved product quality and you will do this by advising engineers on component cost, quality, obsolescence, replacements and multiple source issues and interfacing with internal and contract manufacturing procurement. The ability to perform project and enterprise-wide needs assessment and to implement flexible, cost effective resource systems is essential.
10+ years of experience in a Components Engineering role, to include:
a. Establishes standard descriptions for components
- Maintains the Approved Manufacturer’s List (AML) and assigns new ViaSat part numbers (VPN)
b. Annotates obsolete parts within Agile
c. Consolidation of duplicate part numbers
Knowledge of ROHS and REACH.
- Reviews part requests to ensure that Engineering requirements are maintained;
- Generate specifications;
- Coordinates failure analysis and corrective activities on component parts;
- Assists design engineers in the selection of parts that best fit their requirements;
- Value engineering (BOM cost reduction) and Supply Chain support;
- Participates in design reviews for the purpose of component selection and standardization;
- Authorizes NCO/ECOs written against component and specifications;
- Risk Management: Obsolescence, counterfeit, and PCNs.
Ability to work well others in team environment.
Familiar with Silicon Expert, GIDEP, Agile, and GEMS.
Excellent communications skills.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, including technical school and experience.
