Composite R&D Design Engineer
The Composite R&D Engineer will perform research and development, design and develop new products, fabricate prototypes, and help transition them to manufacturing and production. Responsibilities will include preparation of engineering BOMs, manufacturing BOMs, part models, assemblies and drawings to document: Pressure vessels, Piping and manifold systems, Tooling, Facility layout, and Equipment.
A minimum of five to ten years work experience in a research or manufacturing environment and strong practical experience with the fabrication of composite structures is required. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with large, filament wound parts. Candidates must be versatile and creative in conceiving solutions to problems, pragmatic in their implementation, and disciplined in recording related documentation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with a positive attitude are a must.
Desired Skills & Experience
BS/MS Mechanical Engineering
Five to ten years of experience with composite structures, in either a prototype development shop or manufacturing environment
Proficiency with Solidworks modeling and assembly
Hands on, working knowledge of composite material systems and manufacturing methods
Able to program and run automated processing equipment such as winding machines, ovens, etc.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a small, focused team as well as independently
