Position Responsibilities: The Computational Center for Nanotechnology Innovations at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (https://ccni.rpi.edu/w/) is seeking a highly qualified Computational Scientist to work as a senior member of a team or as team leader to carry out complex or leading edge scientific and technical efforts related to research projects. The incumbent is responsible for providing technical expertise to facilitate the design, implementation and analysis of procedures, techniques, and results which enable investigators to conduct research projects. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), or appropriate engineering or science degree, or a Master’s degree in the same fields with a minimum of 3 years experience; Advanced algorithm and programming techniques with scientific computing languages and systems; Specific background in parallel scientific and engineering computations Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work with scientists and engineers to apply scientific computation to advance their fields of study; Ability to work with industrial users to identify and apply advanced computing technologies to their areas of application; Ability to support community codes, software libraries; Provide expert input on use of software; Expertise in development and application of advanced parallel computing to a variety of materials modeling applications; Knowledge of appropriate simulations methods including at least some of the following (finite element, molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo methods for discrete systems, multiscale coupling methods); Knowledge of at least one area of application – possible areas include fluid dynamics, microelectronics modeling, structural mechanics, thermal mechanics, materials modeling, etc.; Demonstrated expertise in using advanced techniques in the area of computationally intensive problem solving.
