The Computer Services Consultant II provides IT support to the Viterbi School. Responsibilities include maintaining the instructional computing labs, A/V equipment support, user support for the faculty, staff and student workers. The position also assists with the repair, maintenance, deployment and support of the Viterbi School computers, printers and associated peripherals. Key Responsibilities: - Provide first and second level computer support for faculty, staff, and student workers; escalates requests/issues as appropriate to Viterbi IT management. - Setup, administer and maintain labs as directed. - Coordinates the maintenance of all A/V equipment, and peripherals. - Setup and tear down A/V equipment in support of school's events. - Assists in maintaining records and inventory of IT resources. Other Responsibilities: - Stays informed of new developments and technologies in IT and instructional technologies. - Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. - Performs evening, weekend or holiday work if necessary to support school's events, meet deadlines, or resolve specific problems. - Develops system documentation and user support procedures.
Bachelor's degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Field of Expertise:
Knowledge of computing environments. Experience with networks, workstations, wireless communication, security software and procedures. Working knowledge of associated hardware, software, operating systems, and peripherals.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT‐related studies with two‐years experience in university computing environments.
Preferred Field of Expertise:
- Significant experience supporting Mac OS (10.4 and up), and Microsoft Windows (XP and up). - Basic understanding of computer networks. - Ability to work independently. - Ability to take ownership of tasks from start to finish keeping all stakeholders up dated on progress.
Experience in computing environments. Specific support experience with networks, workstations, wireless communication, security software and procedures. Experience in installing and maintaining servers and networks. - Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Possess a customer focus and a track record of providing the highest level of customer service. - Experience working in a team‐oriented and collaborative environment. - Experience in a managed desktop environment and computing lab computer administration. - Analytical and excellent at troubleshooting software applications, hardware, and peripherals at the desktop level. - Strong documentation skills. Ability to present ideas in user‐friendly language. - Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to constantly changing priorities. - Strong sense of urgency and can‐do attitude.
