Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules.

This position is a Computer Support Specialist at the Department of Public Health and Human Services . We are looking for employees who can help us to provide services to promote healthy people, healthy communities.

Criminal History Background Check
This position is responsible for
providing expert technical computer and application support and
incident management for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) employees, contractors, and vendors;
performing computer operations functions; and,
designing, developing, implementing, upgrading and maintaining WIC websites and intranet sites.
Competencies:Required for the first day of work:
Working Knowledge of Networks, Mainframe, Mid-Tier and PC Computers, Servers, Peripherals and Other Computer Hardware;
In-Depth Knowledge of Computer Software, its capabilities, interoperability and compatibilities;
Basic knowledge of Databases (e.g. SQL, RBASE, ACCESS and Oracle);
In-depth knowledge of internet tools (web browsers, web authoring programs, layouts, navigation, graphic design, etc.);
Working knowledge of HTML, JSP, PHP, database integration, SSI scripting, Java, .NET, image mapping and FTP;
Working knowledge of security for computers, networks and web based applications;
Working knowledge of rules and regulations regarding websites (disability regulations, legal disclaimers, proper content, etc.);
Working knowledge of JCL, TSO, CICS, RS6000/Unix;
Extensive Customer Service Skills. Able to handle hostile customers in a positive manner;
Advanced Computer Skills. Able to trouble shoot a variety of computer problems quickly and accurately;
Effectively communicating both verbally and in writing to diverse groups; and,
Developing project plans; technical writing and report preparation;
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology, software engineering, network administration, computer programming, or web programming/administration AND;
One year of job-related work experience in the information technology field to include computer help desk support.
Other equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
