Job Description: The Configuration Management Specialist assists in maintaining the DHS Change and Configuration Management (CCM) program to process IT infrastructure Change Requests (CR) and reduce the risk to projects, operations, and associated hardware and software configuration baselines. They will review, edit, update, and finalize Change Requests, reports, and artifacts. They perform Document Management and Control of developed products and artifacts.
  • Develops CM reports, works with engineers to ensure CM tool configuration requirements are implemented, create an action-item tracking, monitoring and reporting mechanism
  • Facilitates Change Management Integrated Project Team Meeting
  • Performs CM audits and reviews of DHS baselines
  • Develops measurement processes for CRs, customer satisfaction, continuous mprovement, and primary ITIL functional areas
  • Develops and maintains the program Quality Management Plan
  • Prepares CM performance measures reports and graphs for Project Management Reviews
  • Assists the CCM Lead in establishing policy guidance, advice, and assistance in the definition and implementation of standards, policies, processes and procedures as well as the development of a CMDB consolidation strategy
  • Assists in program outreach activities across the DHS Enterprise with the goal of CM Program alignment and communication across all DHS components. Outreach activities include, presentations, meeting facilitation, responding to inquiries, developing and updating documentation for distribution
  • Writes, edits and properly versions ICCB process documentation
  • Writes and edits strategic and planning documentation at a program level
  • Reviews, analyzes, makes recommendations on CM metrics and other CM data
Other Responsibilities:
  • Configuration Management practices in accordance with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices, Capability Maturity Model integrated (CMMi) framework, and compliance with ISO 9001
  • Performs analysis and studies and prepares reports; gathers facts through research, interviewing, surveys, etc. analyzing the client's business, drawing conclusions, preparing final reports and giving presentations
  • Provides oversight and quality review of all templates, artifacts, SOPs, and documents generated by the CCSI contract
  • Able to prepare presentations for high-level management briefings
  • Able to articulate DHS CM policies and practices to stakeholders at all organizational levels and levels of expertise
Education & Experience:
  • BA/BS Degree plus minimum 3 years IT and CM work experience
Job Qualifications:
  • SW/HW: Well-versed in information technology process methodologies; and CMMi and ITIL continuous improvement standards
  • Has 3 years of CM Tool experience
  • A certification in CM is preferred
  • Ability to pass DHS background check (REQUIRED)
Other Skills:
  • Well-versed in change and configuration management practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong knowledge of information technology change and configuration management best practices and methodologies
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Remedy or other CM Tool/CMDB Administration as desired
