This position will be located at the Plant Vogtle 3&4 Construction Project in Waynesboro, Georgia.
Summary of Position Duties
This position will be responsible for coordinating field surveying activities & mapping and producing required reports in support of SNC oversight. This position will require a high level of surveying & mapping skills, expertise and knowledge. This position will work to ensure surveying tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The job responsibilities will include:
Coordinate the field surveying and mapping in support of SNC Oversight and produce required reports, maps, etc.
Process the field data for construction surveys, etc. using least squares adjustment method to produce required reports.
Prepare the required drawings and packages for upcoming observations.
Prepare upcoming observation schedule for all surveying activities.
Coordinate with construction leads and supervisors for survey activity requests.
Provide first line support, work direction and quality control to field survey crews.
Update procedure documentation for Survey activities, as needed.
Provide training for surveying personnel to ensure that field data is acquired and office mapping is performed accurately, efficiently and completely.
Interface with other SNC Oversight personnel and the Contractor to answer questions concerning activities and to communicate project details, requirements, deviations, and concerns.
Communicate project schedules by providing regular updates to SNC Oversight Supervisors and Construction Leads.
Provide necessary assistance to crews during observation activities.
Provide information to assist in tracking the construction schedule.
Update survey activities database.
Communicate with training coordinator to ensure all survey personnel have the required training to perform the survey surveillances.
High school degree, required
A college level bachelor degree in one of the following: engineering, engineering technology, surveying and mapping, geomatics or closely related degree, strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years survey experience. A combination of field and office experience is preferred.
Working knowledge and use of AutoCAD's Civil 3D or Carlson for AutoCAD, required.
Experience in heavy industrial construction projects is required.
Working knowledge and use of the Least Squares Adjustment method for performing error analysis and adjustment computations, required.
Strong computer skills including MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel and PC file folder systems, required. Ability to use MS Access, a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of land and construction surveying concepts & techniques.
Ability to read and understand surveying and property documents and drawings.
Ability to read and understand construction drawing and specification documents.
Knowledge of the various survey coordinate datums and projection systems and their differences.
Knowledge of surveying equipment and calibration.
Understanding of CADD Mapping, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), Precision Measurement, Deformation Analysis, Statistical Analysis and Survey Network Adjustments, Settlement Monitoring, and Construction Surveying Techniques.
Use of basic office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc)
Good communication skills, ability to work in a team, multi-tasking ability, ability to work under pressure.
Skill to function as part of a team and to maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations
Responsible decision maker and schedule oriented.
Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills required.
