DESCRIPTION

The Construction Operations Technician is focused on evaluating facilities, light drafting, estimating, purchasing, budgeting, scheduling and planning of construction department new build, renovation, and capital projects.

The position requires performance of responsibilities to meet operational work flow, be profit-driven as well as detail- and customer-oriented. Ability to work in a collaborative environment and a strong desire to understand the business and work in partnership with operational leaders are key requirements for success in this role. This individual must be able to communicate effectively, be prepared to handle difficult situations and be flexible when required.

DUTIES

  • Maintain database of proposals and project ideas.
  • Participate with initial site assessments.
  • Visit sites to measure, inventory, and record site information.
  • Complete basic CADD construction drawings for future and current projects.
  • Assist in comprehensive project estimates using Excel by specified deadlines.
  • Understand and interpret project specifications, information, assessment notes, and drawings.
  • Interface with production and construction managers to propose and identify material and labor needs.
  • Verify estimates with technical supervisors and management for accuracy and best value.
  • Print, date, and prepare estimates for management approval.
  • Convert estimates into active budgets.
  • Responsible for in progress updates and maintenance.
  • Responsible to work with accounting to accurately record all Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Coordinate and track project scheduling with management and technical managers, project managers, and construction admin.
  • Responsible for maintaining project dates and timelines in MS Project.
  • Responsible for Performance measurements/Variance reporting. Including: Labor budget to actual; Project timeline estimated to actual; Materials budget to actual
  • Perform budget to actual reports upon completion.
QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma required. Experience in CADD, Associates degree, or equivalent experience. 0-1 years of work history required. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, is required.
