CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOREstablished in 1998, GridLock Traffic Systems, Inc. is a highway traffic control contractor that specializes in the installation of temporary work zones and road striping. This includes layout, placement, maintenance, and removal of static and electronic signs, channelizing devices, temporary striping, permanent signs and final striping. We continually strive to attain these standards thereby allowing us to be the traffic control provider of choice for our customers and the employer of choice in our industry.Position SummaryConstruction Supervisor shall utilize his or her strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and logistics abilities to efficiently coordinate, and effectively supervise field activities of various temporary worksite traffic control and pavement marking operations
Key Roles and Responsibilities Understand, adhere to, train, and enforce Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations Comprehend INDOT Specifications, especially sections 100, 801 and 808. Apply knowledge in order to perform activities correctly and accurately in an efficient manner Train subordinates to safely, properly, and efficiently execute various types of worksite traffic control and pavement marking operations Understand, train and enforce proper documentation of pay activities (work orders, timesheets, etc.) Effectively communicate with subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, customers (prime contractors), and owner's representatives through clear and concise electronic, written, and verbal methods Accurately document correspondence with customers and owner's representatives Responsible for coordination, delegation, supervision and quality control of onsite work including responsibility for performance and productivity of all crew members and accuracy of all related documentation Essential Functions Supervise the operation and onsite maintenance of equipment including trucks, trailers, striping equipment, pavement marking removal equipment, etc. Excellent reading/writing ability and math skills to understand job specifications and accurately complete paperwork Ability to read maps and knowledge of state and local roadways Full comprehension of construction plans in order to supervise successful completion of operations Excellent logistics ability in order to identify and solve problems while supervising field activities Excellent computer skills High sense of urgency for customer needs Effective verbal and written communication skills Efficient time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills Self-starter with strong self-imposed structure Develop and maintain team-building through strong interpersonal and leadership skills Willingness to work when necessary in order to accomplish ever-changing workload with occasional overnight travel required Additional Requirements Current Motor Vehicle Record is required with application - insurable driving record is mandatory Must obtain a Chauffeurs license and required physical Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug tests Must be able to pass internal testing Must be at least 21 years old Preferred Qualifications Mechanical aptitude Worksite traffic control supervisor certification 2 to 5 years road construction or other construction industry experience Construction, engineering or related degree desired Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
