Coordinates and executes ongoing operations of Tradewin’s First Sale Appraisement consulting service. Manages tasks critical to this complex import valuation consulting service, such as documentation, customer/supplier communications, and submissions to Customs.
Principal Responsibilities
This Consultant will be dedicated to ongoing, daily operations responsibilities, including:
I. Create and maintain client project files and records
II. Review Customs data and identify first sale duty recovery opportunities for existing clients
III. Assist senior consultants in the research, analysis and opinion writing on the viability of the clients’ international transactions for First Sale appraisement under Customs law.
IV. Gather and analyze entry data to identify import transactions eligible for duty recovery under First Sale.
V. Communicate and work with the clients’ international suppliers to obtain the necessary information and documentation to prepare First Sale claims.
VI. Collect, record and store commercial documentation related to the client’s transactions with international suppliers.
VII. Review commercial documents in detail to validate First Sale values claimed by the client’s suppliers.
VIII. Prepare highly detailed entry data reports for submission to Customs in First Sale claims.
IX. Prepare and submit post-entry via Reconciliation, PEA or protest methods.
X. Communicate and work with the client to report on project status, metrics, strategy and First Sale program objectives.
Secondary Responsibilities
This Consultant will assist senior consultants in overall management of the First Sale Appraisement program and will engage in other consulting activities in order to develop skills and abilities.
I. Prospect, identify and prepare presentations to new First Sale clients.
II. Analyze sample transactions from existing clients and develop First Sale case studies and opinions.
III. Assist in, and eventually carry out, consulting projects in other areas of the practice, such as:
a. Tariff Classification
b. Import Compliance Consulting
c. Export Compliance Consulting
d. Supply Chain Security Consulting
e. Entry Reconciliation
Desired Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate for this position will have practical experience in a detail-oriented business accounting function, such as International Accounts Payable, and experience in Customs Brokerage or Import/Export Compliance with an international company.
I. Practical experience in international business accounting; and the related certifications.
II. Practical experience managing import transactions for a Customs Broker, or within an importing company.
III. Either of the above types of experience will be considered, candidates with both will be preferred.
IV. A certified accountant and/or licensed Customs Broker will be preferred.
V. Superior attention to detail, especially numerical.
VI. Skill with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint.
