At First Entertainment, (http://www.firstent.org) a $1 Billion California-based credit union, we want a star performer to team up with us in a great opportunity as a Consumer Loan Representative. First Entertainment offers banking services to employees of the entertainment community. We are a member-owned, not-for-profit, cooperative financial institution formed to permit our members to pool their savings, lend to one another, and a place where they save, borrow, and obtain related financial services. The ideal candidate would have experience in a financial institution, experience in customer service and handling a high volume of calls. We need a self-motivated and enthusiastic person with a positive attitude, who uses common sense, works smart and who takes responsibility for their own actions and for providing suggestions for improvement. This role will be based out of our main office in the Hollywood/Burbank area and will report to the Consumer Lending Director.Be able to communicate with consumer loan applicants to elicit information, investigate member applicants backgrounds and verify references; help prepare loan request papers; forward findings, reports, and documents for approval decision. Review loan papers to ensure completeness, and complete transactions between Credit Union and member borrowers. Assisting in the cross-selling of products.Responsibilities Include: Communicates with members by mail, telephone, or in person concerning their inquiries, concerns and information needed in a friendly and effective manner.Understands and communicates properly the credit granting criteria, laws, rules and regulations in order to verify and examine information.Understands and communicates properly interest rates in order to explain disclosure, calculate, review and correct errors using computer and/or calculator.Assists with cross-selling lending products to members by being knowledgeable of products and services offered and their benefits.Prepares and types loan applications and information using computer.Interviews loan member applicant to obtain personal and financial data and to assist in filling out application. Verifies from faxed income documentation that it matches application.Records applications for loan and credit, loan information, and disbursement of funds using computer.Submits loan application with recommendation for underwriting approval.Contacts credit bureaus, employers, and other sources to check applicant credit and personal references.Balances work accurately and timely each work day.Acts as backup receptionist when needed.Performs general clerical tasks such as ordering supplies, posting walk-in payments, setting appointments, handling incoming faxes and keeping work area neat and organized
A high school diploma, vocational training, job-related course work or related work experience required.Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is highly desired.Basic accounting practices, clerical procedures and systems, general mathematics, English language and grammar, laws regarding real estate and privacy, member and personal service and needs assessment, computer software applications usage.Using mathematics to solve problems, reading comprehension, active listening, effective and appropriate writing, speaking effectively to convey information.Conduct basic mathematics quickly and correctly; prioritize according to an order or set of rules; express information and ideas so others understand in written and oral formats; see details within a few feet or at close range; read and understand information and ideas; know the right calculation methods to solve problems; speak clearly so others understand, quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences.If you are excited about this opportunity, please e-mail your resume and include in the Subject line 'CONSLNREP 2013-01' to the jobs@firstent.org e-mail address or fax your resume to (323) 851-2175.
