The Consumer Loan Specialist position is responsible for providing exceptional service to members that have applied through various channels using an on line application system. In addition, provides effective communication of credit union products, services and activities to members, and employees, with the specific goal of increasing awareness of the credit union, membership, and sales production.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Under the direction of the Consumer Loan Supervisor, the Consumer Loan Specialist has the responsibility to perform the following essential functions:
Accountable for complete knowledge and comprehension of credit union policies, guidelines, consumer loan and credit union philosophy.
Analyzes loan information in order to render a decision within stated lending authority. Reviews loan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Able to read and interpret credit bureau reports and explain information to members as needed.
Posses the ability to work independently and/or in a group environment
Strong ability to educate members on alternatives and credit union loan products.
Cross-sell appropriate products and services; Maintains or exceeds individual, department, and credit union production goals as set by the credit unions CFO.
Communicates decisions to members in both written and verbal format through various channels.
Responds to members via incoming and outgoing calls as well as through alternative channels.
Coordinate quality loan closings with members and/or CFC personnel.
Accountable for managing individual and team pipeline in a manner which maximizes converting applications into funded loans.
Able to effectively communicate with dealers, financial institutions, and motor vehicle departments.
Responsible for working knowledge of government rules and regulations involving consumer lending.
Recalculates and corrects loan information when research requires for problem resolution.
Always provides prompt, courteous, internal and external Exceptional Member service in a professional manner. Adhering to the Member Consumer Loan Quality Monitoring Guidelines and Exceptional Member Service Job Aid.
Participates and contributes to a positive team work environment which encourages team commitment to corporate, division, and departmental goals.
Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to: U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti- Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act. Must keep up to date on any additional regulatory requirements as needed.
Follows and adheres to all credit union policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Knowledge of excel spreadsheets to create and analyze reports.
Perform other duties as assigned
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with the members, outside contacts, Consumer Lending team, Supervisor, and Manager.

Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software.
Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. One or more of related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
