The Church Resources Division has an opportunity for a Content Editor in Adult Ministry Publishing, Short Term Studies. The individual selected for this position will assist in the creation and production of men's, small group, and other general discipleship studies. The Content Editor ensures biblical accuracy, conservative-evangelical theology, and doctrinal integrity for these resources. The Content Editor ensures that the concept and content are relevant, appropriate for the target audiences, consistent with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and conform to LifeWay publishing style and branding guidelines. In addition to developing editorial calendars and devotional outlines, the content editor will enlist and work with contract writers, evaluate writer submissions, initiate payment for submissions, and perform other general editing tasks essential to the timely production of these resources. The Content Editor will collaborate with the Publishing Team Leader and graphic designer to review layouts, ensure congruency of text and graphics, and approve art work related to these studies.
Bachelor’s degree required in, English, communications, theology, or Christian education
Master's degree preferred: Seminary – MRE, MCM, MM, and M.Div.
Minimum of 5 years of church staff and/or denominational experience plus 3-5 years of superior editorial experience
Biblical skills and knowledge of conservative-evangelical theology is essential
Ability to edit according to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
Knowledge of the target audience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and team-participation skills
Ability to effectively use current LifeWay production software and apply LifeWay style and grammar rules
