Content Specialist - SeatGuru

Are you an airline geek? Do you know the difference between an Airbus 320 and a Boeing 767? We're looking for a smart, organized, customer-focused individual to assist in data and content management for SeatGuru, the #1 online guide to air travel and airline seat reviews. We want to work with great people who are able to follow directions, work independently, and keep up with our fast-paced, fun environment. Reporting to the Director of Strategy, TripAdvisor Flights, the Content Specialist will assist with the delivery of accurate and comprehensive coverage of SeatGuru content offerings, as well as contribute to deployment of overall website content improvements. This role will ensure that SeatGuru grows its position as the most comprehensive and most reliable web resource for airline and aircraft information. Specifically, the role will be instrumental in organizing and updating the SeatGuru seat map database and contributing to the overall SeatGuru content roadmap in coordination with the New Initiatives’ Flights team.

While the position is located in Newton, MA, we are open to the possibility of working remotely.

Responsibilities

Manage, review, and update highly-detailed aircraft seatmap content with special attention to depth and accuracy

Assist in the definition of website content requirements

Prepare content reports on a weekly or daily basis

Monitor consumer feedback (through website and social media channels) and review incoming comments and photos. Provide responses to consumers and escalate when appropriate

Make decisions based on analysis of search trends, site metrics, and business goals

Research and track new planes, updated planes (new configurations), and remove planes that are no longer in use.

Identify gaps in SeatGuru airline and seat map coverage and develop a plan to add missing information to the site. Help monitor the competitive airline content landscape

Maintain and grow a database of seating, cabin information, content features, and other relevant data on new and updated seatmaps for each airline

Translate content needs for the business into new site features and enhancements

Research and edit general information about each airline to include WiFi, In-flight Entertainment options, check-in procedures and other related policies such as baggage fees and other ancillary offerings

Help define and apply a rigorous QA approach to ensure that SeatGuru content is correct on desktop, mobile, and other consumer touch points

Understand business goals, site metrics and key drivers

Suggest faster, better ways to work

Additional responsibilities will be assigned, as necessary

Requirements

Excellent detailed knowledge of commercial aircraft, specifically aircraft types, seat configurations and amenities

Bachelor’s degree

2-3 years’ experience in a role demonstrating attention to detail and content creation

Additional editorial and/or online community experience preferred

Strong communication skills and ability to easily collaborate across cross-function team

Deadline oriented, detail focused, and highly organized

Ability to work independently, anticipate problems and suggest solutions

Excellent editorial judgment and command of the English language

Strong time management/prioritization skills and multi-tasking ability

Experience working in a fast-paced Web environment with Web-based tools

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel

Exhibits integrity though fair and ethical behavior toward others and a demonstrated sense of corporate responsibility and commitment.

Teamwork skills essential; sense of humor preferred
