As a Technical Writer, your responsibilities will include: writing clear, accurate, and concise documentation, primarily for moderately complex systems; designing and organizing original documents, including administrative, reference, and help information; developing effective illustrations and other visual aids to clarify complex topics; developing effective examples based on real-world user tasks; following all writing guidelines consistently and effectively; demonstrating domain/technical knowledge of assigned product/market; managing projects to meet targets for quality and timeliness; working effectively with product development teams (including software developers, marketing strategists, and technical support analysts) to gather needed inputs, communicate status to all stakeholders and manager, and produce deliverables that meet targets for quality and timeliness; demonstrating the ability to use all relevant tools and processes in the SAS publishing environment; and performing other duties as assigned.
Essential
Bachelor's degree in communications or other related business/quantitative field
2 years of professional experience as a technical writer documenting software; OR
1 years of technical writing experience and 2 years of system administration experience in a technical or business domain related to position
Essential Equivalent
Associate's degree in the same fields with an additional 2 years of stated essential qualifications - or -
High school diploma (GED) with an additional 4 years of stated essential qualifications

Ability to serve as an expert in a field or technical or business domain; ability to train other staff members in area of expertise.
Ability to develop examples that demonstrate understanding of software applications and business domains.
Ability to work effectively as a team member and team leader.
Ability to use publishing software tools and processes effectively.
Preferences
Experience with SAS software.
Experience using XML publishing systems and/or online markup formats such as HTML
Experience writing documentation for Web server applications, including installation documentation
