TRAXXAS is seeking an electronic engineering design and project engineer to lead the development of our electrical control systems. The control systems engineer will create design requirements/specifications from marketing input and interface with our mechanical engineering and manufacturing to bring exciting new products to market. There will be involvement in every aspect of the product development process from initial concept to final manufacture. The engineer will be responsible for the overall control systems design & development of new products. Products include, but are not limited to use of: embedded microprocessors, RF transceivers, use of electronic sensor technologies, interface design, digital servos, electronic gyros, magnetometers, and accelerometers.
Essential job functions include:
Develop product design requirements and specifications. Communicate said requirements/specifications to management and manufacturing
Design, implement, prototype, and test advanced control systems for surface and/or airborne vehicles
Design, implement, prototype, and test the systems for direct control of closed loop servo systems
Support development of detailed project schedules and provide detailed status input on allocated tasks to management
Provide detailed component/system verification, validation and reliability testing strategy and plans.
Work with test engineering group to establish proper test methods and test equipment design
Provide evaluation and analysis of test data
Creation of schematics and BOMs for designed components/systems
Support resolution of major production and customer issues
A passion for technology and high-performance
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or other technical equivalent degree is required. Master’s degree preferred
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience in electronic control system design as a product development engineer designing consumer products
Strong control systems experience in a vehicular environment
Experience in the development of consumer products from initial concept through production
Capable of independent project management
Experience designing to meet cost and reliability requirements
Strong working knowledge of embedded microcontrollers and electronic sensors/technology
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
Extreme attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent written communication skills
