Control Systems Engineer

We seek an individual to develop control algorithms and software in support of novel robotics and laboratory automation devices. The qualified candidate should have experience with simulation, motion control development and implementation, and will need to work closely with mechanical design engineers, software engineers and customers.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develop control algorithms and firmware for laboratory automation devices
• Conceptualize, design, build, test and debug devices and systems
• Develop specifications, test plans, and other design/build documentation
• Participate in design reviews
• Develop and manage timelines and budgets for product development
• Interface with customers for requirements, testing and training

Requirements:

• MS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or related discipline
• 2-4 years experience developing control algorithms in product development
• Experience developing and simulating physical models of complex systems
• Experience with control of coupled systems, robot control strategies, and basic signal processing
• Experience with servo motors, stepper motors, encoders, and pneumatic systems
• Matlab, C/C++, and Perl/Python familiarity
• Basic computer communications (TCP/IP, RS232) and relational database familiarity
• Experience with Linux and with real-time software
• Strong problem solving skills, the ability to overcome unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively
• Effectiveness as a team member and individually
• Excellent communication skills
