Responsible for the site cost and operational accounting activities in support of multiple distribution locations in the US and Canada and the primary manufacturing location in the US for Victor Technologies, a cutting, gas control, and welding products company. These locations generate approximately 375 million in revenue annually and employ approximately 600 personnel in manufacturing, distribution, quality, global operations, customer service, engineering, human resources, and accounting.
Position Essential Functions:
Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting and analysis of site financial and operating performance.
Coordinate with site operations management to develop and report key performance indicators and monthly scorecards utilizing global metric definitions and formats.
Monthly financial reporting, quarterly financial reporting, quarterly forecasting, and yearly budgeting. Operate as a business advisor to site operations management.
Responsible for balance sheet integrity and ensuring accurate balance sheet accruals and reconciliation.
Direct and monitor development of standard cost including rate calculation, volume assumptions and raw material prices.
Ensure that system procedures are in place for the accurate calculation of inventory and cost of sales in accordance with global policies.
Direct the planning, hiring, training, development and performance appraisal of the plant accounting financial staff.
Ensures that generally accepted accounting principles are followed and proper internal controls are documented and followed.
Control the review process for capital expenditures.
Review payback calculation for reasonableness and accuracy and ensures expenditure is within spending targets.
Review site productivity savings for reasonableness and accuracy to ensure site is meeting the goal of continuous improvement.
Work with internal and external auditors on co-ordination of site audits.
Support and facilitate changes in the business, such as organizational changes, and in the accounting systems, policies and procedures.
Responsible for property, real estate, commercial activity, sales and use, and business tax reporting.
Other duties as required.
Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience with a minimum of 5 years in cost and operational accounting with manufacturing companies.
Proven success of managing people and projects.
Thorough working knowledge of operational accounting with strong understanding of ERP systems. AS/400 and JDE experience preferred although not required.
Demonstrated advanced presentation and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate up and down the organizational structure.
