Job Summary:
The Controller provides sales and expense analyses for all departments. Fairly represents the financial condition of the dealership, develops controls necessary for the proper conduct of the business, and maintains accurate records.

Job Responsibilities:
o Prepare complete financial statements and submit to the manufacture and management in accordance with established timeframes
o Interpret and analyze financial statements
o Keep the General Manager informed on the trends and cash needs of the business
o Develop and maintain an effective cash management system
o Manager the day to day accounting operations of the store to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with all AutoNation accounting processes and policies
o Close the books accurately each month
o Prepare and submit required statements and reports
o Manage and safeguard the stores assets and ensure that internal controls are in place
o Assist department managers in reading and interpreting their financial reports and in creating action plans needed to improve their operation
o Respond to request for information and assistance in a timely manner
o Work with General Manager to improve revenue or reduce expense in order to meet or exceed budget and grow the business
o Work with regional staff to ensure that corporate initiatives are attained
o Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the company's Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions with customers, co-workers and suppliers
o Adheres to all company policies, procedures and safety standards

Required Experience

o Must meet company's requirements for employment
o Three years of experience in a dealership position (preferred)
o Working knowledge of dealership financial statements
o Ability to explain technical financial information in an understandable manner
o Excellent communication skills
o Professional appearance

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
o Normal office environment.
o Prolonged periods of personal computer usage and data entry.

Required Education

o High school diploma or equivalent
o Accounting degree preferred.
