The Black Pearl Controller will provide hands-on leadership to the executive team of the company, enhancing our existing financial processes and controls, SEC and external reporting and working to support the company in meeting its financial and strategic objectives in a rapid growth, startup environment. This role could evolve into a CFO role over time.
In this role you will manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close procedures and work with rest of the organization to ensure the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of internal financial reporting to management:
Direct and coordinate existing accounting operations including Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Collections (future), Tax Compliance, Banking, Payroll, Equity and Cash Management
Enhance the effectiveness of internal expense controls and accounting records.
Establish strong relationships with key third-party business partners including external auditors, tax advisors, outsourced internal audit function, insurance and commercial bankers
Continuously enhance and improve the suite of financial reporting tools including evaluating our existing ERP for potential upgrade or replacement, managing internal and external ERP-focused resources
Lead the accounting team in cross-functional groups and projects
Oversee the timely completion of financial and tax audits
Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis, as well as special projects as needed
Desired Skills & Experience:
10+ years relevant finance and accounting experience including previous experience in startup environments
Experience working in the tech industry required
Strong project management, leadership, and relationship development skills
Results orientation with an ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with different individuals across the organization.
Excellent organizational, analytical, negotiation skills
Solid knowledge of operational finance fundamentals including collections, banking, cash management, accounts payable, payroll, equity and cost control principles
Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
Experience in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and initiatives
Strong communication and presentation skills – able to present and communicate in a clear, concise and confident manner with senior level executives and Board members
Independent, hands-on, and detail-oriented finance professional
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, high growth environment
