The Controller is responsible for serving as a key financial leader and driving financial initiatives for the company and providing oversight of accounting processes and regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide management and operational oversight for the accounting department and ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements
Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of company accounting policies to comply with GAAP including revenue recognition
Manage the monthly accounting close, and preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements
Serve as the primary interface with outside auditors on both tax and accounting issues
Drive enhancements in financial reporting by creating efficiencies in systems and processes and through the continuous improvement of the relevance of reported data
Perform cash flow forecasting and weekly cash projections
Manage the accounts payable and purchasing function
Assist in analyzing financing needs of the Company
Manage risk management and insurance coverage for the company
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, if applicable
Maintain various vendor relationships
Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer
Supervises the Accounting staff
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education BS/BA in Accounting, MBA a plus; CPA required
Experience 12+ years of directly related experience including supervising other professionals; Public accounting experience preferred but not required
Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC requirements
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
Ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment of rapid change
Strong Management and communications skills (both oral and written)
Proficient skills with spreadsheet, word processing and database software
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks
Ability to delegate work to employees
Ability to look at the big picture and be detail oriented
Knowledge of GAAP, tax, audit procedures, insurance
The ability to plan, initiate and organize in accordance with Company policies.
Must be able to act independently in face-to-face situations using judgment, tact and discretion.
Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, prospective customers and vendors; ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information; ability to understand and follow instructions.

Knowledge of current trends and practices in accounting.
