DDB Remedy is looking for a Controller.
The agency controller supervises the financial, legal, personnel and internal affairs of the agency. The controller also contribute to corporate strategy and operations as a key member of executive management and assures optimum utilization of financial resources through sound forecasting and cash management. Must also produce the projection of revenue and expense forecasts upon which management decisions can be based. Assures that accounting methods and procedures that are adequate to control and appropriate to the financial needs of the company are established and maintained. Consultation and advice to other executives is required on company policy, operations, objectives and effectiveness and management of agency operations. The controller will administrate all legal-related matters, such as litigation, contracts, and agreements as well as coordinate efforts with human resource and IT leadership.
Minimum five to seven years in increasing responsible positions of financial management with at least two years as controller.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
Advertising agency experience strongly preferred
CPA or master’s in accounting a plus
Reports to the local president and regional CFO.
Reporting to the Controller are the finance staff and the receptionist/office assistant.
Coordinates efforts with regional shared service center.
Contributes to agency strategy and operations as a key member of executive management, which includes recommending staffing plans, participation in new business process, negotiation of client agreements, onboarding new clients, assisting in management of current client relationships.
Manages monthly closing, including preparation of all relevant reports such as staff utilization, income statements, client profitability. Controls the flow of data into general ledger.
Prepares special reports and performs analysis as directed by local agency and/or corporate leadership, providing reports and interpreting results to management.
Prepares monthly forecasts, including revenue projections, staff allocations and expense budgets. Compares results to forecast and recommends strategic adjustment as required.
Manages client billing.
Maintains adequate controls of receipts and disbursements, following established cash management procedures including client credit analysis.
Supervises external audits requested by agency clients.
Maintains all corporate accounting records in accordance with established disposal schedules.
Assists in the preparation of all audit/review schedules and review of the books and records in coordination with regional shared services group.
Manages the agency’s travel and entertainment policy and procedural guidelines, execution, and updating in coordination with regional shared services group.
Protects corporate assets through sound accounting policies and procedures which includes adequate internal controls and recommendation of capital purchases.
Coordinates legal issues: client contracts, NDA’s, vendor agreements, employment, etc.
Manages office staff and facility issues, including coordinating with IT, building management and corporate realty group.
Directs and supervises timely efforts of finance staff in preparation of client billing, monthly close processes, vendor payment, collections, internal controls, etc.
Coordinates efforts with regional shared service group for all financial and operational policies and processes.
Establishes and manages internal control process, including periodic Sarbanes-Oxley testing.
Coordinates efforts and administers local processes related to holding company purchasing initiatives (i.e. computer leasing program, software rights, etc.)
Other responsibilities as assigned.
