We are looking for a Controller to establish and execute all aspects for accounting and finance. Reporting to the CEO, this key member of the team brings best practices and accounting and financial management expertise to a fast growing start-up experiencing triple digit growth. This position is a very hands-on role that will ensure all day-to-day accounting functions and financial reporting is done accurately and on time. The Controller will recruit, interview, select, and hire, to grow the Finance team. This position is highly visible in the organization and requires someone with great energy, good ideas, creative strategies, and a "no job is too big or too small" attitude.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Manage/perform accounting functions including A/R, A/P, Journal Entries and General Accounting; assure recordkeeping in accordance with GAAP
  • Direct and oversee all financial planning and analysis activities of the Company including financial and statistical reporting, preparation and management of the annual operating and capital budget, cash flow analysis and financial forecasts
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Establish, monitor and enforce accounting internal controls
  • Prepare clear, metric-based, financial plans/forecasts including monthly projections, annual budgets, long range plans, and related updates
  • Provide financial information and analysis necessary for effective project management
  • Preparation of budgets; instrumental in collecting and analyzing budget data
  • Achieve budget objectives by monitoring activity; instrumental in making recommendations for corrective action
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Build and manage the accounting and finance team
  • Liaison with external auditors; responsible for compiling records and financials for auditors
  • Requirements:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field + 5 years experience; CPA and/or MBA a plus. Prior experience as a Controller or Manager in a start-up environment preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze/interpret financial data
  • Experience with preparation/interpretation of financial reports
  • High level of integrity and honesty
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with all levels within the company
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and identify solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail and great attitude!
  • Prior people manager experience a plus
