Manage all day-to-day financial activities of the organization and provide information, as needed and as appropriate, to shareholders, management, and corporate partners in order to facilitate knowledgeable economic decisions made on behalf of and in regards to the company.
Implement and maintain proper internal controls, including staff rotation, training and separation of duties.
Ensure accurate, timely and consistent processing of accounts payable, payroll, billing, collection efforts and account reconciliations.
Coordinate the accounting activity of all SDSE interests, including the Joint Ventures SGS and corporate headquarters.
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive written set of accounting policies and procedures.
Work with the CFO to prepare the annual budget.
Prepare the annual incurred cost submission for approval by the CFO and ensure timely delivery to DCAA.
Help manage corporate accounting staff. Clearly communicate duties to staff members.
Work with managers and other departments to maintain employee compliance with company policies for timekeeping, expense reporting, and financial procedures.
Serve as the primary liaison to banks, external auditors and tax preparers, DCAA, and taxing authorities. Facilitate annual financial statement audits and tax return preparation. Ensure timely, proper filing of income and payroll tax reports.
Systematically administer cash management and prepare reports required for compliance with banking and credit agreements. Prepare cash flow forecasts as needed and submit them to the CFO.
Participate in a variety of special projects and unique assignments directed by CFO. Respond quickly to CFO requests and compile data as needed to enable CFO's analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; may substitute additional years of work experience in lieu of a degree.
5+ years of hands-on accounting managerial experience with a degree; 10+ years of hands-on accounting managerial experience without a degree.
CPA certification preferred, but not required.
MUST have thorough understanding of the Deltek GCS Premier accounting software.
Experience working for a federal government contracting organization preferred.
Strong working knowledge of general ledger transactions/reconciliations, accounts payable procedures, accounts receivable processing, payroll regulations and procedures, income tax requirements, corporate banking and internal control measures.
Strong managerial aptitude and the ability to easily explain concepts and articulate information to co-workers, management, clients, bankers, and external auditors.
Proficiency with spreadsheet applications. Skilled in Microsoft Office; Excel.
Ability to quickly learn new software, techniques, and processes.
Must have effective problem solving and project management skills, a proactive and resourceful disposition, a tenacious attitude, and the ability to multi-task.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on transparency, accountability, cooperation, and communication.
