* This is an AT-WILL position and
the person hired will serve at the pleasure of the Chief Executive Officer *
Directs the accounting, accounts payable, cost reimbursement, financial analysis, and payroll functions for UMC. Duties include directing preparation of all financial reports for the organization, participation in the UMC annual budget process and preparation of cash flow projections and assumptions.
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field and five (5) years of professional accounting experience, three (3) of which were in a management role.
Current License as Certified Public Accountant.

- Three to five years of related management experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Previous experience in hospital financial management.
Health care and hospital-specific accounting practices and procedures; generally accepted accounting principles; generally accepted auditing standards; strategic planning methods and concepts; quality improvement methods and concepts; statistical analysis methods; hospital payroll processes and criteria; patient accounting principles and practices; third party, including governmental programs, reimbursement rules, regulations and reporting requirements; managed care concepts and principles; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Applying financial planning and reporting practices and techniques; projecting cash flow; performing quantitative analysis; solving problems; organizing work flow; presenting effective and understandable financial reports; organizing to respond to audits; communicating effectively in oral and written forms; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively inperson and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
