Requirements:
Education, Certificates and Licenses:
  • Bachelor’s level degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC
Experience:
  • Two to four (2-4) years in controls engineering.
  • Electric power, chemical process, material handling, or utility industry/power plant experience and/or experience in an Architect & Engineering Firm (A&E) or air pollution control systems manufacturer (OEM).
  • Experience in developing electrical drawings and schematics. AutoCAD skills required. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.
  • Experience with motor control centers and variable frequency drives.
  • Experience checking electrical drawings.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation / Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI’s and programming software is a plus.
  • Experience commissioning PID loop control.
  • Experience design and commissioning networks(Modbus, Profibus, Devicenet, TCIP, etc).
  • Experience with other PLC manufactures(Semiems, AutomationDirect,GE,
etc) is a plus.
  • Experience developing logical diagrams(SAMA-Scientific Apparatus Makers Association) is a plus.
  • Experience with SCADA (IntelliSys, iCONICS, etc) is a plus.
Job Description:
We are looking to fill this position in 2013. Interviewing will not start until early January.

Position Summary: The Controls Engineer II develops electrical and controls engineering drawings and documents. Sizes and specifies electrical distribution equipment and panel components. Reviews electrical and controls specifications to support proposal efforts. Works with suppliers to specify and procure engineered components. Develops PLC and HMI projects and Logical diagrams (SAMA-Scientific Apparatus Makers Association).

Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows:

1. Develops electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and other electrical engineering documentation for multiple projects.

2. Conducts design and specification review of electrical and controls work. Familiar with national electric codes.

3. Sizes and specifies electrical and control components including transformers, circuit breakers, motor starters, conductors, etc.

4. Provides support to PLC, HMI, and logical diagram(SAMA) development as required.

Additional Responsibilities: Up to 30% travel may be required. Additional duties and special assignments as required.

  • Working knowledge of NEC and wiring practices for systems and applications using low to medium voltage (under 600v) as well as various analog distribution systems.
  • Ability to read PI&D diagrams.
  • Demonstrated ability to size and specify power distribution equipment, conductors, conduit, etc.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as on teams.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and demonstrated ability to learn other software as necessary. Experience with Electrical AutoCAD or other CAD software, Visual Basic, and Project scheduling software (MS Project, PrimaVera or Sure Trak).
