Sullair is seeking an Embedded Controls Engineer as part of the Compressor Communication Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development and support of electronic controls for all Sullair equipment and systems. The Controls Engineer will work in a team and mentored environment to create efficient, high quality, reliable controls for use in the full range of Sullair compressed air solutions. As part of a team development, the Controls Engineer will assist in the creation, verification and documentation of hardware and software/firmware programs for use in new and existing compressor control applications for new and sustaining projects.

Controls Development and Project Management:
Gain full understanding of the controls development life cycle and processes

Participate in cross-functional teams of Technicians, Engineers, Product Managers, Supply Management, Production Planning, and others to improve current and develop new control systems.

Actively participate in the project planning process (e.g. estimates for project plan tasks, resources, completion time, capital requirements, risks, expenses, etc.)

Write hardware and software specifications and test plans

Prototype and test software development

Participate in and facilitate design reviews

Customer Focus:
Understand end users application of the products

Create, refine and clarify requirements with customers

Meet or exceed customer requirements as set forth in specifications

Follow the established engineering procedures and policies

Assist in improving engineering procedures

Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives

BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 4 - 7 plus years of experience

MA/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 2 (`3 5 plus years of experience

C and/or C++ programming

Assembly Code Knowledge/Experience

Embedded Microcontrollers Course or Work Experience

Embedded Architecture Knowledge

Visual Studio / Visual Basic

Debugging and Problem Solving Capability

Communication Protocols Course or Work Experience such as RS232, RS485, Ethernet, , CAN, USB, Zigbee, HTML, Modbus and Ethernet/IP, etc.

User interfaces, graphical and non-graphical Course or Work Experience

Controls System Design Course or Work Experience

This candidate must be easily directed, highly motivated, organized, able to function in a team environment and demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.

Preffered Technical Skills:
Ability to understand industrial machinery and requirements.

Experience with electrical power and rotating machines.

Experience with adjustable speed drive application.

Software tool development Knowledge/Experience
