The PART TIME TEMPORARY Convention Staffing Services Representatives are responsible for assisting and directing attendees and guests of COMIC-CON International 2013

. Assignments for selected candidates may include guest registration/electronic scanning, bag distribution, line monitors, badge/ID checkers, floaters and ushers. This is an event-driven position and work hours are not guaranteed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

Assists and directs attendees and guests in a courteous and professional manner using professional verbal and non-verbal communication.

May be assigned to register attendees by entering guest data or electronic scanning of data into a computer program, transferring information into the computer system from various sources, such as print or written language on paper or verbal instruction from attendee.

Monitors and controls the lines of attendees and guests in lobby areas. Directs attendees to proper registration areas.

Checks and verifies attendee registration identification with printed materials .

Assists and directs attendees into an exhibit hall or ballroom.

Hands out convention materials (Comic-Con bags) to attendees and guests.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of customer service and/or related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in large public assembly facilities is highly desirable.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with attendees, event staff and employees.


If assigned to register attendees, employees must be skilled in computer usage with knowledge and experience working with word processing and data entry. Data entry must be thorough with high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have experience working with a computer keyboard and mouse.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.




Availability to work from Tuesday, July 16, 2013 through Sunday, July 21, 2013 and to attend a 4-hour orientation and division training on Friday, July 12, 2013. Availability to work shifts that may start at 6:00 AM and may end at 9:00 PM. A shift may be a minimum of 4 hours or may extend up to 10–12 hours. Excellent communication skills. Strong customer/guest services skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a group setting. Ability to multitask. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with very large crowds in the facility. Must be able to provide own white & black uniform throughout the temporary assignment: plain white long-sleeved button-down dress shirt, plain black dress pants and plain black comfortable walking shoes (closed-toe shoes).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be stationed at a post for an extended period of time, and may be required to stand for a minimum of 4 hours or up to 12 hours (with break periods). The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, hold, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds when assigned to hand out convention materials (Comic-Con bags).


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Assigned areas of responsibility may be located on different show floors which include lobby areas, Sails Pavilion and upper level meeting rooms. Ability to work in hot and cold environments. Frequent interaction with attendees and guests and exposure to very large crowds.

Pay Rate: $13.77 per hour
