Handles, triages, documents and routes inbound patient telephone calls and acts as liaison between department and patient. Triages calls to emergency, medical records, appointments, prescription refills and other departments. Provides information to patients. Works closely with staff and physicians to facilitates continuity of patient flow, timely response to patient inquiries and interaction between patients and staff. Tracks and monitors patient calls in database and solves, reports delays, conflicts and other areas of concern to manager. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An associate's degree in healthcare or medical office management OR three years experience in a call center, physician's office or hospital setting. Medical terminology and previous experience with precertification and patient scheduling strongly preferred.
