The purpose of this job is to assure the effective and efficient daily supply chain management of biodiesel and glycerin shipments.
Exercise discretion in the scheduling, coordinating and processing of freight deliveries to customers, plants and terminal locations to assure timely delivery of product at the most economical rate
Develop and maintain a professional and positive working relationship with internal and external sales force, plant operations, and all customers
Oversee compliance with BQ 9000 requirements
Negotiate/coordinate costs associated with rail cars
Mange rail fleet exercising professional judgment to ensure maximum utilization of rail cars
Prepare monthly lease car fleet utilization report. Help with analysis of lease car fleet needs
Exercise discretion and independent judgment to evaluate all possible transportation methods while determining how to transport specific sales/shipments to and from plants/terminal/customer locations. Select most efficient/economical solution to maximize REGs profitability.
Maintain spreadsheets detailing shipment history by plant and destination
Update truck and rail fuel surcharges
Maintain and update rail car position spreadsheet
Keep all transportation rates up to date in the rate spreadsheet
Maintain a proficient/professional level of knowledge of all terminal agreements and terms - Track and introduce termination notices
Manage terminal service levels as an extension of REG customer service
Track transfer and 3 rd party shipments to terminals including title transfer based on FOB terms
Track and approve all expenses related to schedule terminal transactions
Review daily transactions in and out of all terminals
Responsible for month end reconciliation of terminal inventories
Conduct a general analysis of cost/sales/profit by terminal as requested based on professional knowledge/experience. Using your analysis make recommendations to senior management on go/no-go terminal options
Maintain and calculate monthly terminal and railcar/MOSA spreadsheet
Process freight bills for payment to accounts payable person
Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment status
Perform the payment of rail car lease payments, diversion of empty tank cars and distribution of rail car fleet to REG plants
Negotiate and secure truck transportation for biodiesel, glycerin and LTL shipments
Assist with the setting up of export/import shipments
Maintain a strong understanding of REG accounting procedures and financial conditions
Follow Renewable Energy Group credit policies as applicable to the shipment of products from REG and client plants
Effectively administrate the replenishment of inventory at all terminals
Will perform other duties as assigned
Education Required: 4-year LSCM degree (related degree will be considered) or equivalent job experience.
Experience Required: 2+ years office experience with transportation logistics background. Education may be substituted for some experience.
Skills Required: Ability to use office equipment (computer, calculator, copy machine, etc.) Analytical communication and sales skills are required. Must have basic math and accounting skills as well as the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
