MISSION / SUMMARY:
This HR Coordinator role is responsible for providing Human Resources support to the Portland, OR plant. Activities include: employee relations, Labor relations, recruiting and staffing, performance management, compensation, benefits, diversity, conflict resolution/management , communication, training and HR process coordination, etc. Implement HR policies and procedures. Ensure HR guidelines, policies and procedures are met to the expectations of the Corporate Office.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

Assist with the administration of employee benefits, compensation, performance appraisal programs, personnel record keeping, unemployment claims and training.

Ensure compliance with the affirmative action programs.

Assist with recruiting strategies for hourly and salaried positions at the plant level.

Coordinate the recruitment process to include screening, interviewing, selecting, and hiring candidates.

Assist HR Manager regarding employee relations issues and recommends actions which are consistent with corporate policies.

Assist HR Manager regarding labor relations issues, contract interpretation, and recommends actions which are consistent with the collective bargaining agreement; ensure timelines are met throughout the grievance procedure.

Provide support to management and employees on problem resolution, supervisory discretion and policy interpretation.

Work on special projects such as the health fair, supervisor training and development, communication plans etc. coordinate background investigations and new hire paperwork.

Maintains all records and files as required by plant/Company policy and Federal and State laws.

Coordinate service awards

Scan/enter employees into timekeeping system

Administer and track leaves of absence, including FMLA, short-term disability, and military leaves

Answer employee questions on benefits, leaves of absence, and other company policies

Post available openings on internal job bid board

Maintain seniority lists and employee database

Assist with the on-boarding process for all new hires

Provide back-up HR support to HR facility manager.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated experience in change management, labor and employee relations preferably in a manufacturing environment or equivalent

Must possess effective time management, problem solving, organizational and priority setting skills

Must possess strong knowledge of HR legal issues including federal, state and local laws and regulations related to employment, wage and hour.

Must possess excellent communication (written and verbal). Strong facilitation skills are a plus.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and Internet skills required

Must have a working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations

Experience with SAP HRIS system is a plus

Experience in a union environment a plus

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources/related field or equivalent corresponding job-related experience and education preferred.

SPECIFIC SKILLS:
Demonstrated knowledge/experience of federal and state employment laws and other government compliance regulations.

Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration and influencing skills, as well as strong results & solutions orientation

Ability to be responsive and persuasive at all levels of the organization.

Data entry

Project management of key HR initiatives (i.e. HR Audit, 360 feedback process, Supervisor training, etc)

Lead recruiting and on-boarding process

Strong presentation skills

Provide general administrative support
