This Communications Coordinator position is part of the communications team of the Ecosystem Finance & Markets Unit (EFM), supporting the unit’s staff, grantees and partners to help ensure strategic and efficient communication about the unit’s activities and achievements. As part of the communications team that supports the EFM, the coordinator will collaborate with editorial, design, web and project management staff . This position reports to the EFM Communications Director. Duties include producing or supporting the production of new content for EFM websites and newsletters and coordinating newsletter dissemination, ensuring publication of key grant documents to the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) website, serving as a communications liaison to the CEPF regional implementation teams, supporting development of print publications, and managing the funds’ results data and photo use rights.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Write or coordinate the production of regular, high-quality stories, interviews, blog posts and other content for EFM and CI websites; coordinate/produce regular “Lessons Learned” features with CEPF grantees.
Produce and manage individual fund newsletters and update distribution email mailing lists when needed.
Serve as communications liaison to CEPF’s regional implementation teams, providing technical and editorial guidance to enable them to communicate effectively about CEPF’s program and results, and determining communications tools needed from CEPF to facilitate effective outreach and reporting to CEPF communications.
Assist web manager with maintenance of websites as needed.
Assist with print pieces and other communications tools as needed.
Lead organization, regular updating and improvements to division’s results data. Coordinate with funds to help ensure collection of relevant and accurate data for use in communications tools. Assist with reporting of results to donors and in other communications materials.
Provide additional support to EFM communications, including:
Lead photo research and rights acquisition/tracking for the funds in coordination with the communications team and fund managers as well as Conservation International’s photography coordinator.
Provide support for special events.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Working conditions:
Normal office environment.
Travel, up to three times per year, may be required .
QUALIFICATIONS: Required :
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong computer skills including MS Office, databases, file management, Photoshop and proficiency in Excel
Experience with content management for websites
Experience with social media
Great attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Preferred :
Bachelor’s degree
Degree in journalism, communications or related field of study.
Some knowledge of desktop publishing and experience with multimedia projects.
Proficiency in French or Spanish.
Some knowledge and interest in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
