Position summaryThe Medical Staff Coordinator shall process Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional staff applications and reappointments as instructed by Medical Staff Committees. The Medical Staff Coordinator shall maintain updated and accurate data on all Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals as necessary to maintain the credentialing process. The Medical Staff Coordinator shall assist the Medical Staff leadership in conducting affairs of the Medical Staff and act as a resource to the physician office and Medical Staff with regard to credentialing. The Medical Staff Coordinator is also responsible for agendas and meeting minutes for all Medical Staff committees.Essential Job FunctionsCredentialing Process for Physicians and Allied Health ProfessionalsSets up new physician interview, if required for Credentials Committee.Verifies education, references, and hospital affiliations.Responsible for sending applications as directed.Monitors application process to ensure timely approval of physician credentialing.Prepares paperwork for appropriate hospital staff status.Informs Nursing Administration and appropriate departments of individual practitioner privileges.Re-Credentialing ProcessProvides necessary re-credentialing information as required in a timely manner.Ensures processing of physician re-credentialing application upon timely completion and submission. Supplies all necessary items for the re-credentialing processProvides all necessary items for the reappointment process for hospital staff privileges and status.Informs Nursing Administration and appropriate departments of individual practitioner privileges.Routinely MaintainsCMEs for physicians.Physician Medical License in the State of Indiana as required.Controlled Substance RegistrationDrug Enforcement Act certificateMalpractice insurance coverage.Medical Staff MeetingsPrepares agendas for all medical staff meetings.Attends meetings and prepares minutes.Prepares follow up from meetings.Serves as a liaison between the medical and administration.Create an annual calendar of medical staff meetings and distribute to appropriate departments.Collaborates with presidents of the medical on committee assignments.Reports and Files for Board MeetingsPrepares reports for meetings for Medical Staff.Prepares files for meetings and obtains signatures.Prepares follow up correspondence for signature.Sends copies of privilege forms to all units using the established online process. Prepares memos for signature relating to any additions, changes or corrections in Medical Staff or Allied Health personnel information.Computer InformationWorks with IT to implement access to Assures accuracy of data in system before distributing.Works with IT to implement access to Assigns doctor codes for anyone entered into the SMS system.Works with IT to implement access to Assigns doctors codes for voicemail and dictation numbers and personalize voicemail.MiscellaneousAnswers incoming telephone calls.Provides clerical support as requested.Knowledge, skills abilitiesAbove average ability to use PC, knowledge of Word and Excel required.Must be detail-oriented and organized.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work with diversified groups of employees. Minimum qualifications EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required LicensureNot applicable OtherPrior clerical experience and healthcare experience preferred. Travel required between Crawfordsville and Lafayette campus.
