Strong writing skills, excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. Experience with computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office; Adobe Acrobat, Banner, Content M).

Job Duty
JOB SUMMARY :
Assists the Director with external grant development and submission by YSU faculty and staff, and with overall research administration by the Office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Pre-award assistance with the development and submission of grants and contracts.

Assists the Director with the submission of hard-copy and electronic submission of grant proposals and contracts. Provides assistance with informing faculty and staff about the formal University procedures and policies (including budget) prior to grant submission.

Assists with OGSP research administration and management functions:

Maintains the official OGSP Website and update implementation. Helps to develop and implement new information concerning Compliance and other training modules.

Assists with the creation of budget spreadsheets for grant awards. Helps with the technical development of new Banner “Reports” (modules) used by OGSP and Grants Accounting.

Post award assistance for PIs and Project Directors: reminders about Interim and Final Progress Reports, Compliance and other regulations, etc.

Assists as official liaison with the Grants Accounting Office for other Post-Award activities (financial reports; matching reports, other compliance matters, etc).

In Director’s absence, exercises independent judgment to best address the issues at hand. Reviews the production of Grant-related reports and other technical documents for the OGSP and Graduate School.

OTHER FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Other OGSP office organization and activities:
Coordinates with OGSP secretary and student employee.

Assists with activities stemming from research protocols to two formal Research committees: the Human Subjects Research Committee ( HSRC ) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee ( IACUC ).

Grant funding opportunities and RFPs. Inform and assist faculty and staff about the InfoEd website ( SPIN /Genius Smarts) for interest-based (profile) searches. Helps to review and disseminate relevant Sponsor information in Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

Other Activities for the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research (Associate Provost):

Helps Director maintain collaboration with Graduate School in developing “research” links on the Websites. Assist with the URC Internal Grant program and the Research Assistant program.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of OGSP .
