COORDINATOR OF CARR SCHOLAR RECRUITMENT
Salary: $34,000 - $36,000
Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, the Coordinator of Carr Scholar Recruitment will recruit prospective and admitted ASU students who meet the designated criteria to receive a Carr Scholarship.
Duties Proactively recruit prospective and admitted Carr Scholars by:
Working with supervisor in analyzing application and enrollment trends for Carr Scholars in order to develop appropriate cohort recruitment strategies; assessing effectiveness and adjusting strategies as necessary.
Traveling (at supervisors discretion) to attend recruitment and outreach events and make presentations to prospective and admitted Carr Scholar students and parents at high schools, community colleges, and evening programs targeting new freshmen, transfer students, domestic international populations, and other target populations as determined by supervisor.
Multitasking and managing daily responsibilities in the Banner Relationship Management system; to include proactively using and leveraging system to segment and identify potential Carr Scholar candidates for follow up.
Developing and maintaining knowledge and understanding of current admissions standards, college placement tests, curriculum prerequisites, degree requirements, and restrictions and exceptions for potential undergraduate applicants.
Together with Coordinator of Admissions Marketing Operations, script out communication plan to ensure students, parents, and high school counselors are aware of Carr Scholarship offerings.
Developing and managing relationships with key constituencies in cohort to include high school and community college counselors, Angelo State University alumni, current students, and parents.
Working together with Academic Affairs and Office of Scholarship Programs to help advise admitted students on Carr satisfactory academic progress policies.
Working with the Director of the Honors Program to understand requirements, program, services and internship opportunities available to students through the Honors Program.
Leveraging social media outlets to connect and communicate with Carr Scholar students.
Possessing a generalist knowledge the Angelo State University student experience, and the ability to communicate that experience in a clear and concise manner that resonates with Carr Scholars.
Possessing a strong understanding of cultural competency, and how to communicate effectively to different audiences.
Ensuring all students in assigned cohort are aware of deadlines, application procedures, and financial aid eligibility criteria.
Understanding FAFSA deadlines, process, procedures, and changes in order to accurately advise students.
Possessing a generalist knowledge of all Angelo State University academic and student services programs in order to refer students to the appropriate contact.
Coordinate recruitment events and visit programs that Carr Scholars attend by:
Coordinating the planning and implementation of the ASU Top Scholars recruitment/yield event.
Working with supervisor to intentionally script out the campus tours to highlight key buildings, programs, experiences, and services that will sell ASU to potential Carr Scholars.
Conduct research on top scholar recruitment best practices and provide continuous recommendations on improving the programming and visit experience to the top scholar cohort.
Assisting in the planning and coordination of all Office of Admissions events and programs that target Carr Scholar cohort to include but not limited to Experience ASU, True Blue Friday Tours, Good Neighbor Program, Discover ASU, and Transfer5.
Presenting Carr Scholarship information at all Office of Admissions events.
Working collaboratively with supervisor and Coordinator of Admissions Marketing Operations to develop communication campaigns that invite Carr Scholars to campus for visit and event programming.
Participating in other duties as assigned.

Good knowledge of: a student centered/customer service oriented philosophy is essential; good management principles and practices and their application; techniques and procedures used in program development; developing, reporting and evaluating programs; knowledge and understanding of the structure and chain of responsibilities within a university; record keeping systems; public relations and marketing principles; use of automation in the workplace.
Experience: Compiling and analyzing information; identifying and defining problems/alternatives and developing recommendations; presenting information clearly and concisely; planning, organizing, and implementing workshops, programs, and conferences; extensive experience speaking publicly to small and large groups
