State University of New York, Empire State College seeks a Coordinator of Curriculum and Instructional Design (CID) (State Title: Instructional Support Technician) at our School of Nursing located in Saratoga Springs, NY. This is a professional position providing curricular planning guidance and direct curricular and instructional design support to faculty members. The CID will provide high-level, focused academic instructional design consulting, guidance and support to School of Nursing course developers using adult learning principles, active and authentic learning, social constructivist models, and collaborative learning. The selected incumbent will collaborate with content experts, instructional technologists, librarians, graphics specialists, multimedia developers, and other instructional designers for the consistent delivery of exemplary courses. The CID will participate in the research and application of emerging technologies and emergent curricular models for online teaching and learning, and consult with the Curriculum and Instructional Design Group on processes and best practices. This position contributes to the continued improvement of the School of Nursing course development methods, tools and best practices. The CID will evaluate School of Nursing courses, contribute to, and develop curriculum and instructional design resources as assigned. This position reports directly to the dean.
We seek a creative educator with a comprehensive and research based understanding of learning environments, as well as familiarity with designing, developing, teaching, and evaluating synchronous and asynchronous computer-mediated courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of faculty support in an online environment (preferably Moodle/Mahara), as well as innovation and success in design and delivery, and will be expected to keep current with new technological developments in the field of distance education methodology and technology.
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
• Curriculum and instructional design
• Educational evaluation, assessment, and analysis
• In depth of knowledge of content, theory, and methods of one or more academic disciplines
• Knowledge of accessibility standards
- A master’s degree in Curriculum Design, Instructional Technology or a related field
- A minimum of one year experience in curriculum and instructional design
- Outstanding communication skills
- Experience working in team-based environments
- Substantial related experience
• Expertise in a variety of media
• Experience with the Moodle/Mahara environment
• Experience implementing Web 2.0 applications into online environments
• Experience providing instructional design support in a large scale, high volume distributed environment
This position is located in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Rank/Salary: Low $50,000, depending on qualifications.
