In the absence of a valid Civil Service list, a provisional appointment may be made. In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, candidates must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Mental Health and have had permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c experience as either an Intensive Case Manager, Intensive Case Manager (SL), Intensive Case Manager (CL), or Intensive Case Manager (KL), AND have a master's degree in one of the following fields: social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreation or recreation therapy, counseling, community mental health, child and family studies, sociology, or speech and hearing.

Coordinator Intensive Case Management Services, under general supervision of facility directors and various county mental health commissions, plans, organizes, and controls service delivery of subordinates; recruits staff as needed; supervises and evaluates lower level staff in the provision of services; coordinates services with other community providers; evaluates program effectiveness; and handles the public relations aspects of the programs, meeting with community groups, planning boards, residential program operators, etc., to facilitate placement of individuals.
