The Coordinator of LGBTQA Student Services is responsible for providing comprehensive resources to achieve two primary objectives:

support individual students who may identify as LGBTQ and allies

provide educational programming to create an inclusive campus culture

Description of Duties
Direct Support to Individual Students
• Actively listen and provide appropriate resources for students experiencing issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression
• Be an immediate resource for students who may be experiencing crisis as a result of a sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression concern or issue
Educational Programming and Resources to Campus Community
• Coordinate, manage, or collaborate on the development and implementation of signature programs such as Speakers Bureau, Safe Zone training, Lavender Graduation, National Coming Out Day, Ally Week, and others
• Develop and implement additional educational programming to meet stated goals that promote an inclusive campus environment
• Maintain and enhance the services in the LGBTQA Resource Center
Other duties as assigned
• May be asked to serve on divisional or institutional committees
• Continued professional development related to student affairs; continued knowledge of best practices and innovative approaches
• Represent institution in appropriate professional or community organizations
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Three years of experience working with LGBTQA populations; at least 2 with college-aged students
3. Administrative or leadership experience
4. Familiarity with the collegiate environment
5. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituencies, including students, staff, alumni, community resources, and faculty
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements
• Understanding of and ability to create programming and educational resources that focus on the LGBTQA community
• Understanding of and ability to create programming and educational resources to create awareness and understanding of the LGBTQA community
• Ability to provide intervention resources to individual students who have specific and immediate needs, referring as appropriate
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with a variety of people.
• Demonstrated understanding and commitment to diversity goals of LGBTQA Student Services and other key areas of the university
• Upon hire, the coordinator will be expected to participate in training and other responsibilities associated with being a sexual assault advocate
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred; consideration given to programs of study related to gender or sexual orientation
