AlwaysOnVacation operates one of the world’s largest vacation rental marketplaces and distribution networks with over 65,000 vacation properties in 120 countries viewed by over 6 million travelers each month. AlwaysOnVacation currently has 16 markets globally with 100% localized content driven by our proprietary localization system. Based in San Ramon, California, with operations also in Ogden, Utah and New Delhi, India, we are seeking a talented and experienced Copywriter to join our rapidly growing, top tier team.

This Copywriter will be responsible for copywriting and copyediting all AlwaysOnVacation English website content, including but not limited to: website content, technical content, product content, sales & marketing content, newsletters, email communication, company & product announcements, scripts (ads, commercials, etc.) and press releases. We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a passion for writing and editing creative, compelling content for the web.

Responsibilities:
  • Copywriting, copyediting and rewriting existing copy as necessary
  • Collaborate across all departments in order to plan, develop, edit, and publish all company content (business, sales, marketing, product, localization, and engineering departments)
  • Work closely with our Localization Team to assure all content is translatable and consistent
  • Work with Design Team to maintain our brand and message by creating and editing copy and then double checking the final product for accuracy
  • Deliver clean, sharp creative messaging
  • Maintain the highest editorial standards for all copy and ensure that it conforms to the evolving brand voice. Drive brand forward with a fresh and approachable voice
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards
  • Ensure a consistent voice, branding and messaging across communications including linking organizational goals and unique selling points with communication objectives, strategies, messages and vehicles.
  • Vary language and tone of messages based on product and medium
  • Influence and update AlwaysOnVacation’s style guide to ensure an accurate and consistent voice across multiple campaigns, channels and segments/verticals (social media, blogs, freelance writers, translators, etc.)
  • Familiarizing yourself with company products, target audiences, and competitor activities in the market
  • Successfully juggle multiple projects simultaneously

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience copywriting and copyediting for high traffic, global websites (Previous experience in the online travel/tourism industry strongly preferred)
  • Experience copywriting website content, including but not limited to: technical writing, product content, sales & marketing content, newsletters, email communication, company & product announcements, scripts (ads, commercials, etc.) and press releases
  • Familiarity with best practices for writing for the web
  • Ability to write in a professional, but conversational and engaging style
  • Outstanding copywriting and copyediting skills - knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Determination and ability to completely understand AlwaysOnVacation’s global brand and products
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and high attention to detail required
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to self-direct and perform tasks without a great deal of supervision
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services online. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
  • Job requires creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas and compelling content
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus
  • SEO, Google AdWords & social media knowledge is a plus
