Gannett Co., Inc.'s Direct Response Center located in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an experienced copywriter. The copywriter is an intergral part of a team designing direct response pieces for all of Gannett's 82 newspapers.
Responsibilities for the copywriter include:
Writes effective sales copy as necessary for various direct response sales channels including classic letter packages, email, digital, promotional materials, ROP, FSI and other sales channels as needed.
Writes, routes and proofreads all direct response materials from first draft to final print ready art, ensuring utmost accuracy in spelling, grammar, pricing, and legal disclosures.
Assists with production and traffic, monitoring deadlines and organizing daily priorities.
Maintains the creative library, sample files, seed mailings and completes quarterly archiving.
Assists with minor changes to art files using In Design CS5, as needed, notifying artists when final files are approved for print-ready packaging.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field.
Must have a minimum of 2-3 years copywriting and proofreading experience particularly in the areas of direct response channels such as Direct Mail, Email, Digital and Promotional Development with professional portfolio of work.
Must possess a mastery of language and grammar with knowledge of AP standards for writing and proofreading.
Must have a talent for selling ideas through persuasive copywriting and use of compelling imagery to create breakthrough concepts.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities and work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced creative environment. Individual must be highly proactive and possess effective time management and communication skills.
Basic to intermediate CS5/InDesign skills required for minor text and simple design revisions.
