The position of Corporate Counsel, Government Affairs is based in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Vice President of Government Affairs. The Corporate Counsel will assist the Vice President in 1) managing legislative, regulatory, and industry relationships within the United States, 2) monitoring and advising HTC on related legislative, regulatory, and industry developments and compliance issues that affect its current and future business interests, and 3) personifying HTC in a quietly brilliant way to legislators, regulators, and industry groups.

Job responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned federal regulatory matters, including all necessary filings, with minimal oversight; initial matters will emphasize accessibility issues, but matters and projects will evolve along with the business and regulatory environment
  • Monitor legislative activity related to assigned matters and make recommendations to Vice President as appropriate
  • Assist in preparation of executives for legislative and other government meetings
  • Represent HTC in industry forums and groups on assigned matters
  • Assist Vice President in monitoring and reporting to HTC Legal leadership all relevant legislative, regulatory, and industry developments affecting HTC’s interests
  • Work directly with HTC corporate executives and employees to ensure regulatory compliance and reporting
  • Collaborate with HTC Public Relations team on relevant matters to ensure compliance and unified communications
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will have:
  • Juris Doctor degree from a top, nationally-accredited law school
  • Six-plus years relevant experience, with a strong preference for in-house regulatory work in the wireless industry and with knowledge of current issues facing wireless device manufacturers
  • Experience and enthusiasm for diving deeply into a company’s technology and brand messaging and representing and evangelizing the company in front of legislators, regulators, and industry groups
  • A proven track record of individual accountability, attention to detail, and organization in a fast-paced, highly autonomous environment
  • Ability to analyze business and legal issues and to articulate findings and recommendations in a multi-cultural, international environment
  • Confidence, sense of humor, good judgment, and balance
