GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Corporate Operations Analysis Engineer will support (i) corporate engineering budgeting and planning processes and (ii) coordination of the new ventures program and portfolio development. Responsibilities will also include evaluations of capital performance, economic assessments of major programs, and support of executives and investor relations personnel. This position is intended to be a 2-3 year rotational assignment, a development opportunity for early career engineers to gain necessary business experience and acumen.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Support the Budgeting & Planning Processes

Perform capital lookback and bias analysis of drilling capital programs

Maintain Resource Play Models that demonstrate full cycle economics of major investment programs

Assist in the tracking of New Ventures programs and key attributes and technical success factors

Assist in the implementation and utilization of a portfolio management tool

Assist in the preparation of technical evaluation documentation in support of Investor Relations

Evaluate competitor companies’ performance drivers

Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities

Work as liaison between the corporate and regional offices

Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
B.S. degree in Petroleum, Geology, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is required

Minimum of 3-5 years of applicable engineering experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Solid understanding of engineering economic evaluations

Advanced knowledge and practical application of volumetric calculations, decline curve reserve determinations, appropriate analogue techniques and material balance assessments

Experience with a variety of reservoir types, depletion scenarios and development scenarios

An operations background with working in a multi-disciplinary team is a plus

Experience with conventional oil and gas reservoirs and unconventional resource plays. Exposure to horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, and multi-basin experience is a plus

Competency with Aries or other economic evaluation software programs

Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office

Experience with industry/company software including: Risk Analysis Software (MMRA, UCRA, Crystal Ball, @ Risk), OFM, AFEN, Wellview, & Data Cube training is a plus

Driven, enthusiastic, and passionate

Self-directed, organized, and detail oriented

Strong project management skills and the ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously; takes a multi-disciplinary approach to projects

Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

Excellent communication skills including: written, verbal and formal presentation

Applies specialized knowledge in the completion of projects

Actively transfer knowledge to colleagues and management

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Periodic travel to regional offices or conferences as needed; approximately 10% of time
