We need new talent to support our growth! Positive results have enabled Meijer to build for the future, and we are actively hiring in all areas of the company. The result is a need for additional recruiting staff to support organizational initiatives and ongoing hiring needs. Multiple new positions are available in our Talent Acquisition team, located at our corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our recruiters partner with assigned divisions to understand business needs and provide full cycle recruitment and sourcing support.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Working collaboratively with hiring managers to understand business objectives and candidate requirements for open positions

Assisting hiring managers throughout the hiring process

Providing guidance on job requisition detail and creation while advising managers on the most effective interview techniques

Managing expectations throughout process, while providing ongoing communication on any obstacles or issues that may surface

Managing recruiting efforts to pre-established service level agreements

Strategically sourcing through networking, online social media, ads, referrals, and more

Developing a deep, qualified pool of candidates for positions

Use sourcing techniques to develop short list of candidates for upcoming company needs

Contacting associations, industry specific groups, affinity groups, community job placement services, private agencies and colleges to identify prospective job candidates.

Staying abreast of community/market conditions that may impede/assist the hiring process

Providing information to candidates to positively market the organization/position and continually finding ways to enhance the candidate experience

Developing a thorough understanding of assigned department/regional culture and using that understanding to better recruit top talent and help candidates fully understand the opportunity

Screening all candidates for business acumen, competency alignment, availability, interest level, salary requirements, relocation needs and basic qualifications

Providing guidance on offer recommendations, negotiating/creating job offers, closing, and administrative functions involved in full cycle recruiting

Monitoring interviewing, testing and hiring processes to ensure adherence with all Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other government compliance requirements, and maintaining compliance and actively updating requisition activity within the ATS

Maintaining the necessary documentation related to recruiting efforts, tracking all activities through defined metrics and is measured based on many factors including a recruiting scorecard, survey results and client feedback

Monitoring costs related to the recruiting/selection effort; insuring adherence to budget limits

Actively participating in update meetings to stay current with immediate and future hiring needs

Assisting in campus recruitment directives as neede

Other projects as assigned


Bachelor's degree in HR or related field

3-5 years of recruiting and sourcing experience

Previous retail experience highly preferred

Corporate/internal recruiting experience highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Demonstrated business acumen

Prior experience with technology solutions, including recruitment websites, applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office, and creative sourcing techniques

Strong relationship building skills with all levels in the organization

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple demands concurrently

Excellent interviewing skills and strong written and oral communication skills

Detailed negotiating skills

Knowledge with behavior-based interview techniques

Ability to persuade and influence decision makers
