Activision Blizzard is the umbrella organization over Activision and Blizzard Entertainment, providing corporate shared services, such as Legal, HR, Finance, IT, Accounting, Facilities and Sales.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. INTEGRITY OF FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Primary Focus to encompass: Ensuring accurate entry and processing of vendor maintenance forms (VMF’s) in the Oracle Purchasing Vendor Maintenance Module and ensuring accurate processing, coding, and tracking of consolidation and close monthly journal entries in the Oracle general ledger.
Works closely with the Accounts Payable Department to update and maintain existing vendors in the Oracle Purchasing Vendor Maintenance Module (i.e. updating sites, adding payment method changes, de-activating vendors, etc.)
Communicate with various members of the organization to accomplish business goals through the VMF process
Knowledge and enforcement of VMF policies
Prepares journal entries with supporting backup, ensuring that correct account codes are utilized and transactions are accurately explained and supported
Prepares entries and reconciles accounts for specific consolidation & accounting areas
Ensures that assigned general ledger accounts are properly reconciled; reconciling items are cleared timely; and any issues are communicated and handled appropriately to avoid misstatements of financial information
Develop a level of “expertise” in the consolidation process to ensure process is working as intended and in compliance with controls set in place
Develop a level of “expertise” in business operations to understand their impact on accounting transactions
Ensures timely general ledger close for month-end and quarter-end
Assists with SOX testing in accounting areas, as requested by the Company’s internal audit department
Various other administrative and clerical tasks
Ad hoc project oriented tasks
Preparation of management reports to provide accurate financial information to support management review/decision-making.
Ensures timely and accurate reporting on assigned areas to allow managers to make informed business judgments
Prepares ad hoc analysis or special reporting in response to inquiries from management
B. ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Assist in growth of Corporate Accounting and Consolidation & Close Groups through self development and team work
Develop work plans and objectives with the assistance of the Accounting Managers and take primary responsibility for ensuring objectives are met.
Seek guidance on areas of challenges and obstacles in meeting goals and plans
Monitor work priorities and communicate issues that will impede workflow and deadlines to the Accounting Managers promptly
Cross-train in other areas of the department to expand knowledge of department functions and facilitate workflow management
Help foster cohesive team environment
Focus on process improvement to maximize utilization
Suggest process improvements to maximize utilization of Oracle or other automation to ensure efficiencies are maximized.
Work with other department personnel to ensure a high level of accuracy of information, while ensuring efficiencies are maximized in processing time
C. CONTROLS AND SOX COMPLIANCE
Ensure that the financial results of Activision are accurately reported from an external reporting perspective, in accordance with GAAP, and in compliance with all SEC and Sarbanes Oxley requirements
Monitor account reconciliation process to ensure base level detail in the General Ledger is accurate and in compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.
Develop a good understanding of SOX requirements relevant to the job responsibilities
Actively participate in design of key controls for new systems, processes, territory expansions and remediation of control risks, when required
Demonstrate strong ethical standards.
The position requires the ability to perform essential job functions which may typically include sitting; walking; standing; bending; use of hands to type, handle or feel, reach with arms or hands, stoop, kneel, talk, see, hear and carry light items such as papers, notebooks, pens, etc. May also require occasional travel by car or plane.
Technical skills / Prior Experience:
Undergraduate degree in accounting
Oracle 11i General Ledger experience is a strong plus
Exposure to GAAP and SOX compliance requirements
General comfort working with Microsoft Office Suite
Comfortable with Data Entry
Quick learner and adaptive thinker
Desire to work in Accounting/Finance to learn and expand their knowledge
Experience with multiple legal entity structure preferred
Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organizational, analytical, and computer skills
Hyperion & Essbase experience a plus.
