FastPay is seeking an Underwriting Paralegal with a proven track record in commercial finance law to lead our legal underwriting efforts. You will be working with a top-tier team to perform diligence and aid our Underwriting/Sales/Credit departments in analyzing the profiles of both prospective and current clients.
FastPay is a next generation lender providing specialized lines of credit to digital businesses. By combining proprietary technology with industry experience, we can quickly assess the creditworthiness of a digital business and provide loans ranging from $100k to several million in under 48 hours to help their customers effectively manage their cash flow.
Run Diligence Searches (UCC, Bankruptcy, Judgments & Liens)
Prepare reports and packets of information based on searches conducted to management
File UCC-1 Financing Statements
Run entity searches and learn the breakdown and intricacies of incorporation, location, and state of conducting business necessary for each entity
Assess the importance of and compile follow-up questions about any search results involving judgments, taxes, bankruptcies, etc.
Understand lending and finance-related documents (Finance Agreement, Payoff Letters, Notice of Assignment) and answer questions about these documents from various departments within the company.
Research UCC related policies and procedures on a state by state basis, keeping a record of nuances that may occur to improve future filings.
Communicate with vendors to put in orders for certified documents with the Secretary of State.
Extract Information from important documents and properly index the information for inter-departmental referencing.
A successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent listening skills, the ability to present information to groups as well as individuals, and the ability to multi-task between projects and meet deadlines. Experience with technology is a must and candidate must have in depth knowledge and experience with standard office programs such as Microsoft Excel and Google Docs. Must also be flexible and quick with learning other programs we use.
Candidate familiarity with database researching and connector searches preferably with LexisNexis products is a plus. This job also requires a background doing research, attention to detail, good problem resolution skills, ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong legal background and ability to understand difficult legal concepts. A paralegal certification is preferable but is not required. Any understanding or background in factoring is a plus. A candidate with experience in a support role for either a law firm or a lender would be the ideal fit for this position.
