The Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator is responsible for raising unrestricted and restricted funds from corporate and foundation donors, playing a key role on a team tasked with generating more than $2.5 million annually for the organization. He/she works closely the entire development team as well as with program staff throughout the organization to achieve fundraising objectives.

The Coordinator is a front-line fundraiser, and is charged with securing sponsorships and grants in support of ongoing organizational programs and events. Event-specific fundraising priorities include the Americans for the Arts Annual Convention, the National Arts Marketing Project conference, Arts Advocacy Day, the Nancy Hanks Lecture, and the National Arts Awards. Program-specific priorities include arts education, local arts leadership initiatives, the Partnership Movement, public art, and research, among others. The Coordinator also works on corporate cause marketing partnerships as assigned and oversees the Corporate Circle program, an annual giving program for corporate donors to Americans for the Arts.

An integral part of the Corporate and Foundation Relations team, the Coordinator independently prepares letters of inquiry, grant and sponsorship proposals, stewardship reports, and development briefs. The Coordinator also helps to manage benefit delivery for event and program sponsors; conducts prospect research; and represents Americans for the Arts at special events and meetings with funding prospects.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manages a prospect list of 25-50 corporate and foundation donors and works with VP of Development and Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations specifically to increase gifts at the $5,000 - $250,000 giving level
• Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards Corporate Circle gifts, based on analysis of targeted yearly dollar goals. Develops yearly solicitation plan for this group of donors and drafts and distributes direct mail pieces and electronic mailings for this group
• Partners with VP of Development and Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations to identify new corporate and foundation donors for restricted projects and, in consultation with other stakeholders within Americans for the Arts, prepares and executes engagement, solicitation and stewardship plans for each prospect
• Provides support in writing monthly e-blasts and other stewardship communications for corporate and foundation donors and prospects
• Prepares gift acknowledgement paperwork
• Maintains donor records within the organizational database as well as the department’s hard files
• Coordinates with development and other program colleagues throughout the organization to helo manage benefit delivery for corporate and foundation event and restricted program sponsors
• Partners with the leadership alliances team to develop and solicit corporate prospects for the annual National Arts Awards gala
• Works with Communications and Marketing team to help promote cause marketing partnerships and creates content for the Corporate & Foundation Relations section of the Americans for the Arts website
• Prepares corporate and foundation briefings in preparation for senior staff as well as personal meetings with corporate and foundation prospects


• Bachelor’s degree
• 3–5 years experience in Development, with a focus on Corporate and Foundation Relations and a proven track record of securing five-figure gifts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe
• Fluency in netFORUM, iMIS, and/or other database management software; fundraising module proficiency is preferred
• Some travel required

• A commitment to advancing the arts and arts education
