ADMINISTRATION, SCORING AND SUPERVISING PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS TO INMATES IN A DIAGNOSTIC PROCESSING CENTER LOCATED IN VANCEBORO (CRAVEN COUNTY) HOUSING 796 ADULT MALE FELONS. WORK THAT INVOLVES COUNSELING WITH INMATES TO ESTABLISH A RAPPORT AND ATTITUDES THAT FACILITATE VALID TEST RESULTS. WORK MAY ALSO INVOLVE GATHERING RELEVANT SOCIAL, CRIMINAL AND MENTAL HEALTH BACKGROUND INFORMATION NECESSARY TO INTERPRET TEST RESULTS AND PREPARE REPORTS. WILL FUNCTION AS LIAISON WITH DIAGNOSTIC AND MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT STAFF AND MAY SERVE ON COMMITTEES RELATIVE TO TREATMENT.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
CONSIDERABLE KNOWLEDGE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES AND PSYCHOMETRIC THEORY IS REQUIRED TO PROPERLY ADMINISTER AND SCORE INDIVIDUAL & GROUP PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS. A KNOWLEDGE OF THE CAUSES OF CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR & THE STRESSES INMATES ARE SUBJECT TO DURING INCARCERATION IS REQUIRED AS WELL AS A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF CRISIS INTERVENTION AND OTHER SUPPORTIVE COUNSELING TECHNIQUES. A KNOWLEDGE OF PSYCHIATRIC DIAGNOSTIC CATEGORIES AND THE VARIOUS BEHAVIORS ASSOCIATED WITH EACH IS ESSENTIAL TO RECOGNIZE THOSE INMATES THAT REQUIRE MORE INTENSIVE INTERVENTION. ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY IN ORAL AND WRITTEN FORM. ABILITY TO ORGANIZE AND PREPARE ACCURATE RECORDS, CHARTS AND REPORTS AND TO ANALYZE SUCH INFORMATION.
MANAGEMENT PREFERS CANDIDATE WITH EXPERIENCE IN ADMINISTERING AND SCORING PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS AND TESTING OF SPECIALZED CLIENT GROUPS SUCH AS MENTALLY HANDICAPPED AND SPECIAL EDUCATION. ***INCLUDE A COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT WITH APPLICATION***
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from a four-year college/university with a degree in psychology, or other human services field with psychology coursework. This coursework should include general psychology, statistics, abnormal personality, and developmental psychology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. . .
